Netters Win 7th Straight Match

The Warhawk men's tennis team defeated host UW-La Crosse on Saturday 8-1 to improve to 17-8 this season and push their winning streak to seven.  The 'Hawks win streak started back on April 2 with a 6-3 victory over Grinnell.

Each doubles match was close and three of the six singles matches took three sets to decide.  Danny Gliner (Madison/Edgewood) and Kelvin Caiati (Greendale/Greendale) improved to 22-6 as a doubles team with an 8-4 victory at the number one slot.  Both tandems at two and three doubles also won close matches, 8-4 and 8-5 respectively.

The top three singles flights took three sets to decide and all three fell in favor of the Warhawks.  Glinert rallied to win at the number one spot and Caiati came back to win at the two spot after each losing their first set.  Mike Harmatys (Brookfield/East), playing at three singles, won his first set, dropped the second, and then won a tiebreak to improve to 15-4 this season.  The number four singles match was close as well with the Eagles' Steven Quiring holding off UW-W's Kyle Halweg (Waunakee/Waunakee) for the lone La Crosse victory.
