The Warhawks could never get over the hump in a couple of close matches as they fell to #16 DePauw University 9-0 on Tuesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The 'Hawks fall to 9-7 in dual matches this season while DePauw improves to 6-7.
All of the doubles matches were close and could have fallen in favor of UW-W but DePauw was able to fend off the pesky 'Hawks and take a 3-0 lead.
Danny Glinert (Madison/Edgewood), ranked 18th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association central region poll, fought Scott Sandager, ranked 11th, in both sets but was unable to pull out a victory. Glinert paired up with Kelvin Caiati (Greendale/Greendale) in doubles to face the number four team in the central region of Sandager and Will Gates and another tough match ensued, but the Tigers were victorious again.
Will Krieger (Hartland/Arrowhead) was competitive in both of his matches, at singles and doubles, pairing up with Mike Harmatys (Brookfield/East) at three doubles they lost a very tight match. At singles Krieger played another tough player from DePauw and battled but lost 7-6 (4), 6-2.
