Netters Too Much for Allegheny

The men's tennis team was too much for Allegheny College to handle in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Monday, as the 'Hawks won 8-1 to improve to 9-6 this season.

The number one doubles team in the central region, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), of Danny Glinert (Madison/Edgewood) and Kelvin Caiati (Greendale/Greendale) won their fourteenth match of the year in an 8-2 victory at the one doubles spot.  The other two doubles flights were a little bit closer with UW-W getting the victory in both, 8-4 and 8-5 respectively.

Caiati also won at two singles to improve to a team leading record of 12-6.  Caiati is ranked 20th in the central region by the ITA.  At number one singles, Caiati's doubles partner Glinert won in straight sets to improve to 10-9.  Glinert is ranked 18th in the central region.

A hard fought battle at the number five singles spot went in favor of Allegheny's Jake Allmaras as he defeated Kyle Halweg (Waunakee/Waunakee) 6-4, 6-4.

The Warhawks will face nationally ranked DePauw on March 23.  DePauw is ranked 16th in the nation and fifth in the central region by the ITA.  They also boast the number eleven singles player in the central region and the number four ranked doubles team.
