Kehoe broke the 800 meter record that had stood since 1988, winning the event in 1:52.62, to top the mark of 1:52.70 formerly held by Steve Melzer. Kehoe's time also met the automatic qualifying standard for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III indoor championship. Kehoe set the pace for teammates Jeremie Bogard (Racine/Horlick), who finished second in the 800 in 1:54.05, a time that meets the NCAA III provisional qualifying standard, and Joe Dixon (Milwaukee/Rufus King) in third at 1:55.22.
Two more Warhawks also earned first place points. Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) won the high jump at 6-4.75 and Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M) won the weight throw with a 58-1.25 effort. Stringer's throw is his season best, also improving his NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Joe Schneider (Wausau, WI/Wausau) placed second in the shot put at 51-0, earning him a place among the NCAA provisional qualifiers. The Warhawk 4x400 meter relay finished second in a season best 3:20.19, adding their names to the list of UW-W provisional qualifiers. Tom Fisher (Green Bay/East) joined Buchholz to give UW-W 1-2 in the high jump, with Fisher going 6-2.75.
Joining Dixon to provide third place points were #C.J. Miller# in the 55 meters (6.56), Tim Prelletz (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) in the 400 meters (50.72), and Michael Lewis in the long jump (21-8.75).
The Squig Converse Invitational is named for the benefactor that financed the track and field facility inside Kachel Fieldhouse.
