Coming off their first loss of the season, UW-W took it to the wire in a very balanced game, scoring in the final minutes. Gilbert scored his third goal of the season on a ball he knocked in to the left side of the net after a blocked shot caromed his way.
Matt Mikesell (Waukesha/Kettle Moraine) only had to make one save en route to his fifth shutout of the season. Mikesell is 8-0-0 this season as the Warhawk net minder.
UW-W got off five shots in the game, all on goal, two by
Trevor Swentik (Delafield/Marquette University HS), two by
Dan Montanye (Mukwonago/Mukwonago), and the one that went in by Gilbert.
The Warhawks will travel to UW-Superior on Sunday for a conference match against the Yellowjackets beginning at noon.
