Netters Unbeaten in WIAC, Siemon Sets Record

UW-Whitewater ran its win streak to eight, and upped its record to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Conference, with a pair of victories Saturday.  The Warhawks conclude dual meet play in the WIAC and will lead in points going in to the league tournament.  The WIAC tennis champion is determined by a formula assigning one-third of the points based on dual meets, and two-thirds on results of the tournament.  UW-Whitewater has won the last three WIAC tennis titles.

In addition to celebrating the perfect league record with the win over River Falls, Saturday's play also marked an individual milestone.  Senior Amy Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) broke the UW-W record for career doubles wins.  Siemon has piled up 84 wins with several partners over four years, surpassing the former record of 82 set by Wendy Seymour (1989-92).  Siemon also moved into third place for career singles victories, with her total at 79 surpassing the 75 Kara Amundson (2005-2009) compiled.  Stephanie Froh (1987-91) is next in line with 87, and Seymour is Whitewater's all-time leader in singles wins with 99.
