Women Netters Remain Unbeaten in WIAC

UW-Whitewater, three-time defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, defeated UW-Stout 8-1 Friday in Menomonie, Wisconsin.  The Warhawks' sixth straight win makes the team 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the WIAC.

In the five singles flights that UW-W won, the Warhawks did not lose a set.  In fact, in ten sets, they lost just seven games -- total.

The win assures UW-W of at least sharing a part of the regular season points total in the WIAC.  The league uses a formula comprised of one-third regular season dual meet points and two-thirds WIAC Tournament points to determine the league champion.  UW-W, with one WIAC match remaining, is the only undefeated team in the league.  The WIAC Tournament will be played at the Nielsen Tennis Center Saturday and Sunday, October 23-24.

UW-W will wrap up its fall dual meet schedule Saturday, playing at UW-River Falls Saturday morning in the final WIAC match prior to the league tournament, then moving on to Winona, Minnesota to face Winona State in the afternoon.
