The Sake Bottle was given to UW-Parkside's and UW-Whitewater's coaches Jim Koch and Willie Myers by Mr. Hatta, the former president of Japanese Wrestling and considered the father of Japanese Wrestling, and was made into a trophy. Both Koch and Myers were coaches of the NAIA All-State team which toured Japan and Korea in 1975. The possession of the Sake Bottle is determined by the winner of the dual meet between the two schools. UW-Parkside took the bottle back to Kenosha with the 25-9 win Thursday now leading the series 18-4.
Bautista, ranked number one in Division III at 141 pounds, improves his record to 22-2 on the season with the close overtime win over Migawa of Parkside. Schmidt also won a close match against Molechek to up his mark to 5-2. Wachholder recorded another win for the Warhawks bringing his season total to 13-7.
UW-W will compete in the Border Brawl Duals Saturday, January 23, in Gym 4 of the Williams Center in Whitewater. For more information please see the Border Brawl Duals schedule (word document).
