UW-Whitewater edged UW-Oshkosh and topped the eight team field at the Warhawk Classic Friday night in the Kachel Fieldhouse in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The Warhawks are ranked fourth in the Division III national poll, with third-ranked North Central College and top-ranked Augustana College finishing behind the Warhawks.

Team scores were UW-Whitewater 165.5, UW-Oshkosh 164.5, North Central College 114.5, University of Chicago 80.5, Augustana College (IL) 71, Loras College 38, Concordia University (WI) 6, and UW-Parkside 5.
Isiah Gray (Milwaukee/Brown Deer) went three for three in his event, the 400 meters. Grey's time of 49.10 won the event, broke the UW-W record, and provisionally qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III indoor championship.
Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) led a Warhawk sweep of the high jump. Buchholz won at 6-8, meeting the NCAA III provisional qualifying standard. Following, in order, were teammates Kyle Lencho and (Darlington/Darlington)Travis Morehouse# tying for second at 6-6, and Tyler Eddy (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) fourth at 6-2.
Cory Lockridge (Milwaukee/Rufus King) also won an event for the Warhawks, going 22-8 in the long jump.
Warhawk athletes also finished second in five other events. Brakken Kraker (West Allis/West Allis Central) ran 1:56.38 in the 800, Marcus Smith (Milwaukee/West Allis Central) triple jumped 46-3.25, Luke Hibner (Elmhurst, IL/York Community) put the shot 50-6.75, Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M) went 54-8 in the weight throw, and the 4x400 relay was timed in 3:21.68. Stringer's distance met NCAA III provisional qualifying standards, but he already has another, better, mark this season.
The fourth-ranked Warhawks will compete at an invitational hosted by Division II Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan Friday-Saturday, February 13-14. The next home meet for Whitewater will be the Hawk Invitational Friday, February 20 at 5:00 in the Kachel Fieldhouse.
