The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team won their ninth straight dual match this season with a 7-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday. The match was played at the indoor tennis courts at Sentry World in Stevens Point. The Warhawks are 9-0 in dual matches this season and Point falls to 9-5.
All but one match was completed in straight sets and that was a three set match at the number five singles spot. In that match
Michelle Daciolas (Roselle, IL/Lake Park) and Kaylei Sorenson battled to 10-8 tiebreak with Sorenson taking the victory.
At the six singles spot
Kelly Rutkowski (Waunakee/Waunakee) handed Point's Leah Benn her first singles loss of the season and improved her own singles record to 6-1. At the three doubles position the duo of
Amy Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) and
Kathleen Kappel (Madison/Madison East) defeated Kaylei Sorensen and Leah Benn, which is only their second loss of the season. Sorensen and Benn were recently named the WIAC doubles team of the week. Complete results follow.
