Warhawks Fall to #8 Principia

UW-Whitewater lost to Principia College 3-1 Wednesday afternoon at Robert W. Fiskum Field in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Principia is ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III poll. Principia is also number one in the NSCAA Central Region poll and UW-Whitewater is seventh in the North Region.

Whitewater out-shot Principia 6-1 in the first half, but the games remained scoreless at intermission. Principia got on the board first on a Yaw Danso goal, his tenth of the year, with an assist from Ricky Seaman. Less than four minutes later, at 58:21 it was Seaman scoring, his ninth, unassisted. Principia upped the margin to 3-0 at 69:25 on Spencer Brown's sixth goal of the season, with another assist from Seaman. Whitewater got on the board at 74:04 with an unassisted goal by Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater), his team high tenth of the  year. Whitewater seemed to have the upper hand on the statistics sheet recording ten shots to eight for Principia, eight corner kicks to three for Principia and three fouls to seven for Principia.

The loss ended UW-Whitewater's string of four consecutive shutouts. Danso's goal was the first given up by UW-Whitewater in 427:04.

UWW is 8-5-3 this season. Principia is 12-1-0. UW-Whitewater will play at the University of Chicago Sunday afternoon and conclude the home schedule Tuesday the 27th at 7:00 hosting Northwoods International University.
