Matt Uhlmann enters his seventh season as an assistant coach for the UW-Whitewater women's soccer team in 2018.
Since Uhlmann joined the program, the Warhawks are 107-21-9, including a 40-4-1 record in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. UW-Whitewater has won four WIAC regular season championships and four conference tournament titles, and has made six NCAA Tournament appearances over the last six years.
Uhlmann's responsibilities include assisting in day-to-day operations, recruiting, organization of camps and execution of the program's golf outing and other fundraisers and community engagement opportunities. He also makes travel arrangements for the team during the season.
A native of Oregon, Wis., Uhlmann has served as assistant varsity girls' soccer coach at Milton High School since 2004. During that span, the Red Hawks have won conference championships in both the Badger South and Southern Lakes conferences, and have made two appearances in the sectional finals.
During his time as an assistant with the Milton varsity boys' program from 2008-11, Uhlmann helped the Red Hawks reach their second-ever berth in the state tournament.
Uhlmann's other past experiences include being head coach for the Yahara Soccer Club (now Wisconsin Rush) U-11, U-12 and U-13 girls' teams from 1999-2003 and serving in multiple capacities with the Milton Soccer Club girls' youth teams from 2004-09. He has also worked multiple camps, including UW-Whitewater, Milton High School, Winning Mood and GT Soccer.
In 2000, Uhlmann completed the Winning Mood - CIOS Soccer Academy Coaching course in Arnham, Netherlands. The course included watching and analyzing professional matches as well as attending trainings from high level clubs, including Ajax, and classroom sessions with Winning Mood creator Ton De Hoop. He also met with professional coaches for question and answer sessions following matches.
Uhlmann currently resides in Oregon, Wis., with his wife, Alex, and children Ethan, Carter, Brittyn and Kendyl.
