Marcus McLin enters his first season as an assistant coach for the UW-Whitewater football team in 2021. He will work with the wide receivers.
McLin was a two-time All-American defensive back and all-region return specialist for the Warhawks during his career from 2011-14. He was a part of three national championship teams (2011, 2013, 2014) and served as a team captain during his senior year. McLin garnered All-WIAC accolades three times, including first team honors in his final two seasons.
McLin most recently served as an assistant coach at Division II power house Minnesota Duluth from 2018-20. He worked as an intern coaching the cornerbacks in 2018 before being promoted to defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. McLin coached four all-conference defensive backs, including one All-American, during his time at UMD.
McLin started his coaching career at the high school level, serving as assistant defensive coordinator at Delavan-Darien High School, his alma mater, in 2015, and as defensive coordinator at Kettle Moraine High School, where he coached seven all-conference players, from 2016-18.
A native of Delavan, McLin graduated with a degree in communication with emphasis in public relations and a minor in coaching from UW-Whitewater in 2016.
