Brent Allen enters his seventh season as offensive line coach at UW-Whitewater in 2021. He was hired in March 2015.
Led by the conference's top-ranked rushing attack, the Warhawks finished as Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion and national runner-up in 2019. Guard Quinn Meinerz was selected as an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, the Associated Press and D3football.com. Meinerz was joined on the All-WIAC first team by tackle Kyle Gannon.
The Warhawks led the WIAC in scoring offense, rushing offense and total offense in 2018. Four of the team's five starting offensive linemen were named All-WIAC, including Nate Trewyn, who - like Allen in 2007 - won the Rimington Award as the top center in NCAA Division III. Trewyn, a consensus All-American, signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in April.
In 2017, four UW-Whitewater offensive lineman earned All-WIAC accolades, including Ben McFall, who was named an All-American by both the Associated Press and D3football.com.
Behind a sturdy offensive line in 2016, the Warhawks won the WIAC championship and reached the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Playoffs. The offense averaged nearly 35 points and almost 200 rushing yards per game and ranked 18th in the nation with 275 first downs. Tony Koepnick and Austin Jones were selected as All-Americans following their senior seasons.
In Allen's first season on staff, three Warhawk offensive linemen earned both All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and D3football.com All-West Region honors. Tony Koepnick and fellow junior Spencer Shier garnered All-America accolades from D3football.com. The offensive line helped pave the way for 222.9 rushing yards per game, good for second in the WIAC, and helped the team rank among the top 20 in the nation in three different offensive statistical categories.
Allen was a four-year member of the UW-Whitewater football team from 2004-07, earning the Rimington Award as the top center in NCAA Division III in 2007, when the team won its first national championship. Allen was also a two-time first team All-WIAC selection during his standout career. In 2011, he was selected to the WIAC's All-Time Football Team as a prelude to the conference's Centennial Celebration in 2013.
Allen starts his tenure as an assistant coach for the Warhawks after serving as offensive line coach at Augustana (Ill.) for two seasons (2013-14).
While at Augustana, Allen helped lead the Vikings to consecutive 5-5 seasons. Under Allen's tutelage, Augustana's offensive line helped pave the way for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's No. 2 rushing attack in both 2013 and 2014. The Vikings averaged 233.2 yards per game in 2013 and 216.9 yards per affair one year later.
Allen began his coaching career at Carroll University, where he was a graduate assistant from 2009-11 and offensive line coach in 2012. In his first three seasons, he coached tight ends and full backs, assisted with the offensive line and served as punt team coordinator, JV offensive coordinator, assistant video coordinator and equipment manager. Allen was in charge of recruiting in Wisconsin and Illinois and was a liaison to the team's parent group. Prior to becoming offensive line coach, he worked at Waldorf (Iowa) College during the spring of 2012.
A native of Mukwonago, Wis., Allen earned a bachelor's in human resource management from UW-Whitewater in 2007. He received his master's in education with an emphasis in adult education from Carroll in 2013.
Allen also holds a position on campus as an academic advisor in the Academic Advising and Exploration Center.
