FISKUM FIELD
Fiskum Field, a natural grass turf with seating for 1,700, opened for the 2008 season. The facility includes lighting, a graphic scoreboard, sound system, player dugouts and benches, and a press box with a video deck. The playing surface measures 116 yards long by 78 yards wide. It is only used for the Warhawk intercollegiate soccer games, totaling approximately twenty-five contests a season. The field is in pristine condition because it is not used for practices and the track teams do not use the soccer playing surface. The field is maintained with a professional striping pattern. Restrooms for the Kachel Family Multi-Sport Complex were added in 2016.
The field is named for Robert Fiskum, men’s soccer coach 1988-98, who directed the Warhawks to 103 wins and nine winning seasons. His distinguished tenure at UW-W included coaching three other sports and teaching in the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching Department. Fiskum Field hosted NCAA tournament games in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
FOSTER TRACK
Foster Track was completely renovated in 2008, beginning with the 400 meter, nine lane, all weather synthetic running surface with four finish lines to accommodate races for all wind conditions. Tree spikes or ¼ inch pyramid spikes are used. The facility includes lights, a sound system and a graphic scoreboard.
UW-W utilizes a fully automatic timing system with real time scoreboard results. Pole vault competition has four runways, two running north/south on the east end of the facility and two running east/west on both high jump aprons. The pole vault has a 140 foot approach. There are two runways for the long jump and triple jump, running north/south on the east end of the facility. Takeoff boards are set at 3, 28 and 32 feet for women and 10, 36, 40 feet for men. Both have a 140 foot approach. The north end includes two shot put circles, a hammer ring with laser measuring and a discus venue. Further out on the north end, javelin throwers have a 113 foot synthetic runway.
The facility is named for Rex Foster, UW-W men’s track coach 1959-84 and women’s coach 1976-84. Foster directed the men to a pair of conference championships, as well as tenth place in the 1980 NAIA indoor championship and twentieth in the 1979 NAIA outdoor meet. His 1982 UW-W women’s team placed twenty-fifth in the AIAW outdoor championship. Foster Track has hosted the WIAC championship six times, most recently in 2016. Â
