NCAA III Regional Game Ten: UW-Stevens Point defeats Case Western
Riley Spetz singled in the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 1-0 victory for UW-Stevens Point over Case Western Saturday at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Regional in Whitewater at James B. Miller Stadium at Prucha Field. Stevens Point, 39-9, advances to the World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin beginning on Friday, May 24. Case Western concludes their season with a 29-14 record.
Max Frederick, the Pointer starter, threw a gem going seven and two-thirds and scattering five hits while striking out three. Tyler Flood came on in relief in the eighth and was perfect to earn the save, his third of the year.
The teams combined for eleven hits and four players had two each. Jimmy Coady, the regional’s most outstanding player, was 2x3 and Schilter was 2x4 for the Pointers. Paul Pakan and Robert Winemiller were the two Spartans to collect two hits each.
