Jamie Hora pitched eight innings of shutout baseball to lead Case Western to a 3-1 win over St. Scholastica in the second game Thursday in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Regional in Whitewater at James B. Miller Stadium at Prucha Field. The Spartans scored one in the top of the first and pushed across what would be the winning run in the top of the fourth inning on Robert Winemiller’s RBI double to left center. Case Western added an insurance tally in the top of the seventh. Hora held the Saints to six hits, two apiece by Kyle Flagstad and Jake Casareto, while striking out three and walking none in the complete game on the mound to improve to 6-2 this season. Winemiller was the lone Spartan to record multiple hits for Case Western.
The Spartans will face St. Thomas Friday at 3 pm. CSS will face the loser of the UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater Friday at 12 pm.
