In the fifth game of the day, Carthage College rolled to a 7-0 win over UW-Eau Claire. Senior righthander Krystina Leazer threw a complete game one-hitter to send the Lady Reds into Sunday play.
Carthage scored the only run they would need in the top of the first inning. Junior Bryanna Heckel led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a Blugold throwing error.
After three scoreless innings, the Lady Reds struck again in the top of the fifth. Two hits aided by a UW-EC error plated a Carthage run to make the score 2-0.
Carthage would add two runs in the top of the six and three more in the top of the seventh to seal the win.
Heckel and junior Corinne Sheley posted two hits apiece for the Lady Reds. Leazer struck out eight and walked just one in throwing seven innings of one-hit ball.
Junior Emma Wishau picks up the loss to move to 10-4 this season for the Blugolds.
Carthage will face North Central Sunday at 12:00 pm.
