NCAA III Baseball Regional from Whitewater, Wis.-Game Four
Drew Gay raised his record to 8-0 with a complete game seven hitter as Aurora University defeated UW-La Crosse 2-1 Wednesday night in the NCAA regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Prucha Field in Miller Stadium. Gay struck out five and did not walk or hit a batter.
Josh Davidson’s two run single in the second gave Aurora the 2-0 lead. Jay Fanta cut the lead in half with a run scoring double in the bottom of the sixth, but that was the end of the scoring as Gay, and UW-L starter Tim Verthein and reliever Zach Lauersdorf shut down the offenses.
AU, 37-8, will play the College of Saint Scholastica, 34-9 at 7:00 Thursday. UW-La Crosse, 33-10, will face North Park, 32-13, at 1:00 Thursday in the double elimination tournament.
