NCAA Whitewater Regional Game Six ... Thursday 4:00

The combination of Matt Beyer's two out triple and Dylan Friend's double in the tenth inning gave UW-Whitewater a 7-6 victory in ten innings over Hamline University in the 4:00 game Thursday of the Whitewater Regional of the NCAA III Baseball Championship Tournament at Prucha Field at Miller Stadium.  Three of the six games in the regional have been extra innings.  Whitewater scored first, with Jeff Donovan opening the fourth inning with his eighth home run of the season.  Hamline combined three hits with a Whitewater error to take a 2-1 lead after four.  Serve to Whitewater, which scored twice in the fifth on four hits to lead 3-2.  Back to Hamline, which used a bases loaded walk to score the tying run in their half of the fifth.  See-saw to Whitewater, scoring twice in the sixth on two hits and two sacrifices.  Rob Coe's fourth home run of the season in the seventh made it 6-3 Whitewater.  That lead lasted one inning, with Hamline knotting the score at 6-6 on four hits and a costly Whitewater error in the bottom of the eighth, which set the stage for the clutch hitting of Beyer and Friend in the tenth.  Whitewater had sixteen hits, most in the regional in the first two days, and the two teams combined for 27, also most in the regional.  The hit barrage kept the bullpens busy.  Each team used five pitchers in the game.  Beyer led both teams at the plate, going 4x5.  UW-W, 34-11, the only unbeaten team in the regional, will play at 4:00 pm Friday.  Hamline, 29-14, will face UW-Stevens Point, 33-9, at 10:00 am Friday in an elimination game.
