MOUNT VERNON, IOWA --- The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer defeated Coe 6-0 on Sunday. UW-Whitewater finished with advantages of 23-4 in shots and 15-3 in shots on goal while recording the shutout. The Warhawks open their season 3-0, with one more road game before their home opener.

UW-Whitewater put together a four-goal first half, starting early when
Lilli Rick (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) scored off
Jasmine Wilson's (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) assist at 6:46.
The Warhawks created pressure early, with Wilson forcing a save in the third minute,
Karina Osborn (Arena, Wis./River Valley) adding a saved shot shortly after the opening goal and UW-Whitewater earning back-to-back corners before
Tessa Czajkowski Higgins (Prairie du Chien, Wis./Prairie du Chien) scored at 10:14 on an
Anna Gunderson (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) assist.
Czajkowski Higgins added another goal at 18:51, this time assisted by Wilson, after the Warhawks continued to generate chances in the attacking end.
Lauren Ripley (Brookfield, Wis./East) handled the Kohawks' shot on goal in the 24th minute, and
Genevieve Simkowski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) scored at 39:32 to close the half.
After halftime, the Warhawks kept pressure on the Kohawks with four shots and a corner in the opening 12 minutes of the half, including two saved attempts by Carlson and two more from
Jenna Laidlaw (Aberdeen, Scotland/Aberdeen Grammar). Ripley handled the Kohawks' best looks in the half, saving shots from Kylie Ireland in the 55th minute and Elly Manning in the 75th. The Warhawks continued to create chances through the middle stages, getting a saved shot from Taylor, additional attempts from Carlson and
Rachel Cvikel (Franklin, Wis./Saint Thomas More), and corner kicks in the 72nd, 80th and 86th minutes.
UW-Whitewater added two goals, with Simkowski scoring her second brace of the season off
Brooklynn Carlson's (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) assist in the 78th minute.
Lilli Rick (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) ended the game with a brace of her own, adding the 6th goal in the 89th to close out the win over the Kohawks.
The Warhawks close out their season-opening road trip in Kenosha on Wednesday, September 9th. UWW faces Carthage at 7 PM.
