Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team took two from UW-Eau Claire in Saturday's doubleheader. With the two wins, the Warhawks pushed their win streak to 19 games, breaking the school record of 18 straight wins in 2025 and 2005.
The Warhawks flew out to a 15-5 win in game one, defeating the Blugolds in seven innings. UWW rallied 20 total hits in game one for the run-rule win. The second game was closer, with UWW holding off UWEC 7-6, stranding the winning run on first in their 20th win of the season.
Jackson Spring (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. UW-Eau Claire was able to match in the bottom of the second to tie the game up at 1-1, but a four-run third inning for the Warhawks pulled them ahead.
UWW tacked on two more in the fourth with a homer from
Evan Olson (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly), his first of two in game one, to take a 7-2 lead. The Warhawks tallied 7 more runs in the 6th & 7th innings to push their lead to double digits.
In game one, Spring led the Warhawks with four RBIs, finishing 2-for-4 from the plate.
Dominik McVay (Mineral Point, Wis./Mineral Point) was a homer away from the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double & triple.
Evan Olson (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) homered twice to bring in three runs, with
Aaron Holland (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) hitting one himself in the five-run 7th inning.
Leyten Bowers (Mineral Point, Wis./Mineral Point),
Danny Hopper (Palatine, Ill./Palatine),
Jackson Spring (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North), and McVay each had a double as the Warhawks started game one hot at the plate.
Sam Steuber (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) picked up the win, going 5.2 innings with just three earned runs & five strikeouts.
In game two, the Warhawks bats didn't get going early, but they still managed to score in the first inning despite not getting a barrel. UWEC's starter issued three walks & hit
Jackson Koenig (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) with a pitch to put UWW on the board.
Ben Lee (Amherst, Wis./Amherst) worked through the order, making it through five innings of work before allowing a run. Lee allowed only three hits in his first five innings of work.
Maddux Hibbard (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) helped the Warhawks extend their lead with a 2-RBI double in the fourth inning. UW-Eau Claire was able to get their own runs, hitting two home runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to cut the lead to just one.
Andy Thies (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) answered back with a solo shot run of his own, followed by
Jackson Koenig (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) hitting a 2-RBI triple to regain a multi-run lead.
The Blugolds kept things close, scoring three runs after the 7th inning stretch to limit the Warhawk lead to just one.
Heading into the last frame, the Warhawks were able to add an insurance run with an RBI from
Jackson Spring (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North). It was needed, with the Blugolds scoring one in the bottom of the frame.
Gradin Taschner (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) closed the door on the walk-off chance, getting a strikeout for the final out & collect his fourth save of the season.
The Warhawks will finish out the series against UW-Eau Claire on Monday, April 13th in Eau Claire. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
