Men's Soccer Shuts-Out Beloit in 4-0 Win

LAKE GENEVA, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated Beloit College, 4-0, on Wednesday evening. UWW scored twice in each half and finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots, including 13 shots on goal.

UWW built a 2-0 halftime lead by scoring in the sixth minute and adding another goal in the 30th while generating 11 shots and five corner kicks in the half. 

Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) opened the scoring at 5:32, finishing a rebound from an Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) shot on goal. Glancey was credited on the assist, his first point of the season. 

Almost immediately after the goal, Saul put another shot on frame just 23 seconds later. UWW kept the Buccaneers under pressure through the middle of the half, with Glancey and Blake Lovick (Deforest, Wis./Deforest) forcing saves before Braylon Hemmersbach (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) headed in the second goal at 29:11 off assists from the build-up from Agostino Angelini (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada/Bishop Ryan Catholic) and cross from Nil Calvo Alsina (Barcelona, Spain/Parkview). 

After Caleb Bergman (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) and Tanner Mandalinci (Woodlands, Tex./John Cooper) added attempts and UWW earned three corners from 36:21 to 38:24, Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) saved Tyner Amerine's shot at 44:10 to help preserve the 2-0 advantage at halftime.

UWW added second-half goals from James Kiraly (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) and Bergman and closed out a 4-0 win over the Buccaneers.

Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) put a shot high and UWW earned a corner before Kiraly scored at 54:06 off Chrisman's assist to make it 3-0. The Buccaneers put shots on frame later in the half, but Waite saved Michael Berry's attempt in the 66th minute and Kevin Krass (Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Christian Life) stopped Miles Morrow's shot in the 87th. 

Bergman extended the margin at 73:49 with assists with a play in from Tanner Mandalinci (Woodlands, Tex./John Cooper) off a cross from Calvo Alsina. Calvo Alsina recorded two assists in the game for the Warhawks.

Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) started in goal and made two saves without allowing a goal over 73:49 before getting the combined shut-out with Thiago Vieria & Krass. 

UW-Whitewater will continue with WIAC play on Saturday, October 10th against UW-River Falls, kick-off is set for 3:30 PM in River Falls.
