Ketterhagen Ford Football Preview: Week 3 at UMHB

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will head to Belton, Texas to take on the Crusaders of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor this Saturday. Kickoff for the Warhawks' non-conference finale is slated for 11 a.m. at Crusader Stadium. 

RANKINGS
The Warhawks are ranked 16th in the latest national polls from D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association. UMHB is ranked sixth in the D3 poll and ninth according to the AFCA. 

SERIES
Saturday will be the 12th meeting between the Warhawks and Crusaders. UW-Whitewater holds the lead in the all-time series 8-3. UWW opened the series with a 7-3 win back in 2006. In the last meeting, UMHB came out on tob 35-17. UW-Whitewater is 5-1 in games played at Crusader Stadium. 

LAST TIME OUT - UWW
UW-Whitewater shut out Saint Xavier (NAIA) in Chicago 37-0. The Warhawk offense registered 243 passing yards - an average of 11.0 per completion - with three touchdowns through the air. The defense continued to stifle the opposition allowing just six first downs and just 107 yards of total offense for the Cougars. 

Klinkner completed an impressive 20-24 for 227 yards and 3 passing touchdowns. He added a fourth TD with his feet. Tyler Vasey (Crystal Lake, Ill/Prairie Ridge) was the top target with 92 yards on 7 catches with a TD reception. Seth Adams (Utica, Ill./La Salle-Peru) remained perfect in the kicking game going 3-3 on field goals - including a career-long 52-yarder - and 4-4 on extra points. Defensively, Ethan Gallagher (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) paced UWW with seven tackles while Jayden Fowler (Morton Grove, Ill./Niles Township West) and Dom Beres (Bartlett, Ill./St. Francis) each had interceptions.

LAST TIME OUT - UMHB
The Crusaders defeated Bethel University (Tenn.), an NAIA institution, 30-23 in UMHB's season and home opener on September 6. The Cru is coming off of a bye week heading into Saturday's game. 

In week one against Bethel, Kirkland Michaux was 20-26 for 230 yards, a passing touchdown and a pair of interceptions. Kamerin Ferguson paced UMHB in the run game with 148 yards on 16 carries with a TD. BJ Stewart was the top receiver with 114 yards on 6 catches including a touchdown reception. Defensively, Layden Roque had nine tackles including a tackle for a loss.

WHAT'S NEXT
UW-Whitewater will enjoy the bye week before returning to The Perk for Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Warhawks will host UW-La Crosse on October 4 for the university's annual Family Fest.
