Lauren Cruz Battersby was an All-American outfielder for the UW-Whitewater softball team from 2007-10. Battersby helped lead the Warhawks to a national runner-up finish in 2008. A three-time First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honoree, Battersby was an All-Region selection three times and garnered Third Team All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in 2008. During her tenure, UW-Whitewater claimed two WIAC titles and made a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. A lefty power hitter, Battersby was phenomenal at driving in runs. She is ranked second in the conference record book in career runs batted in (163) and third in career homeruns (36). Battersby also holds two top five marks for homeruns in a single season and three marks among the top eleven in WIAC history in RBI in a season. In the UW-Whitewater record book, Battersby holds the record for homeruns in a game with two – a feat she accomplished twice, holds top six marks for season records in RBI, homeruns and at bats. In the career record book, Battersby is second in both RBI and homeruns while adding top ten marks in runs scored (125), at bats (542), hits (186) and doubles (34). A native of Des Plaines, Illinois and a graduate of Maine West High School, Battersby earned a bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in advertising in 2010. |

Austin Bautista was one of the most prolific wrestlers in UW-Whitewater history. Wrestling for the Warhawks from 2006-10, Bautista still holds the program record in wins (136) - a mark that ranks sixth in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference history. Bautista claimed WIAC titles at 141 pounds in 2008, 2009 and 2010. As a freshman in 2007, Bautista was the conference runner-up. He went on to earn All-America honors three times after finishing seventh in 2008, third in 2009 and eighth in 2010 at the NCAA Division III Championships. Bautista's 40 wins in 2009 is ranked fourth in the program record book and is among the top 15 in league history. That season, he won over 95-percent of his bouts (40-2), the seventh-best win percentage for a Warhawk in a single season. Bautista registered 110 takedowns during his first collegiate season – a mark that ranks sixth in UWW history, and he holds one of the fastest pins in Warhawk wrestling history – 18 seconds. A native of Des Plaines, Illinois and graduate of Maine East High School, Bautista earned a bachelor's degree in special education in 2011. |

Brooke Bell Burns was a national champion sprinter for the UW-Whitewater track and field program from 2008-10. Burns, the 2008 Indoor Track Performer of the Meet and 2009 Outdoor Track Performer of the Meet at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, is a five-time conference champion. The sprinter claimed indoor league titles in the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash in 2008, reclaiming her title in the 55 in 2010. During the outdoor campaign, she secured conference titles in the 200 in 2008 and 2009, adding a title in the 100-meter dash in 2009. Burns went on to earn All-America honors for the first time in 2008 after placing seventh in the 200. The next season, she finished fifth in the 100 before earning a national title in the 200 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships – becoming the first national champion in outdoor women's track in UW-Whitewater history. During her time as a Warhawk, Burns broke the record in the 60-meter dash – a mark that currently ranks among the top ten – and she still holds the outdoor record in the 200 (23.89). Burns is also ranked among the top ten in the UW-Whitewater record book in the indoor 200 and outdoor 100. A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native and graduate of Hamilton High School, Burns earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies in 2016. |

Dan Gnatzig was a member of the UW-Whitewater baseball team from 2002-05. A model of consistency, Gnatzig was a staple in the outfield for all four years of his career. He helped lead UW-Whitewater to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles in 2003, 2004 and 2005, as well as league tournament titles in 2003 and 2004. Gnatzig made three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Division III World Series appearances, helping the Warhawks to a national title in 2005. Gnatzig is a two-time all-region honoree (2004, 2005) and a two-time All-WIAC pick (2003, 2005). He is ranked among the top ten in the program record book in multiple season categories. In the program's career record book, Gnatzig is ranked third in runs (187), sixth in at bats (619), eighth in hits (215) and eleventh in runs batted in (141). A native of Whitewater, Wisconsin and a graduate of Whitewater High School, Gnatzig earned a bachelor's degree in physical education with a health licensure in 2005.   |

Justine Weyer Goodman competed for the UW-Whitewater gymnastics program from 2008-10. A phenom on the vault, Goodman was the Warhawks' first individual national champion on the apparatus and the first two-time individual national champion in program history. Goodman led UW-Whitewater to a third-place finish at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships in 2009 and 2010, and a fifth-place finish in 2008. A two-time All-American and national champion on the vault (2008 and 2010), Goodman also earned All-America honors in 2009 after finishing fifth in the all-around. A member of the WIAC's All-Time Gymnastics Team, Goodman claimed six individual Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles over the course of her career, securing titles in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise in 2008. She defended her title on the uneven bars each of the next two seasons. In 2010, she led the Warhawks to a WIAC team title. Goodman broke the UW-Whitewater records on the vault (9.8) and all-around (38.425) during her time as a Warhawk - marks that still rank among the top 20 at the time of her induction. A native of Colgate, Wisconsin and a product of Germantown High School, Goodman earned a bachelor's degree in health, human performance and recreation in 2010. |

Garry and Larry Grimes – The Grimes Twins – were two of the best to represent UW-Whitewater on the hardwood in Warhawk history. The pair of forwards were members of the Warhawk men's basketball team from 1971-75. The dynamic duo led UW-Whitewater to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) District 14 title games three times and to a pair of conference championships in 1973 and 1974. The Grimes Twins were captains and the team's most valuable players in 1975. Garry was a two-time First Team NAIA District 14 selection (1972, 1975) and four-time all-conference pick. Larry was named First Team NAIA District 14 in 1975 and was also a four-time all-league selection. The pair wrote their names in the conference record book in both scoring and rebounding each season they competed. In UW-Whitewater's career record book, Garry still holds the record in rebounds (971) after 50 years. He is also among the top ten in rebounds per game (9.4), field goals made (554) and scoring (1302 points). At the end of his career, Garry held the conference rebounding record – a mark that ranked ninth in 2025. Larry is third in career rebounds (877) and holds top ten marks in field goals made (622), rebounds per game (8.5) and scoring (1366 points). The Grimes Twins are from Indianapolis, Indiana and are products of Crispus Attucks High School. Garry passed away in 2015. |

Kelsey Hendrickson was a four-year member of the UW-Whitewater women's basketball team from 2006-10. The point guard helped the Warhawks to three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including a third-place finish in 2008. A two-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion, Hendrickson was named all-conference in 2008, 2009 and 2010, adding All-Defensive Team honors in 2010. She went on to earn First Team All-Region recognition and was an Honorable Mention All-America selection from D3hoops.com in 2010. Her 108 steals in 2009-10 broke the program record at the time and is currently sixth in league history. As a sophomore, Hendrickson shot .460 from three-point range – a top ten mark in league history and ranked second in program history. Hendrickson holds numerous top 25 marks in the UW-Whitewater season record book in points, assists, steals, field goal attempts, three-point attempts, three-pointers made, three-point percentage, free throw attempts and free throws made. In the program's career record book, Hendrickson is ranked among the top 20 in points (1108), points per game (12.3), assists (264), steals (245), free throws made (235), three-pointers attempted (420), three-pointers made (155) and three-point percentage (.369). A native of Monroe, Wisconsin and graduate of Monroe High School, Hendrickson earned a bachelor's degree in health, human performance and recreation with a minor in coaching in 2010. |

Justin Jacobs was a four-year standout on the UW-Whitewater football team from 2002-06. The two-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year (2005, 2006) helped lead the Warhawks to conference titles in 2005 and 2006. Jacobs also garnered D3football.com All-Region recognition in 2005 and 2006 after leading UW-Whitewater to the Stagg Bowl. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the Football Gazette in 2005. Jacobs was named to the WIAC's All-Time Football Team as part of the league's Centennial Celebration in 2012. A team captain in 2006, Jacobs was selected as the team's most valuable player in 2005 and 2006. He ranks among the top 15 in the WIAC season record book in passing yards (3,556), total yards (3,667), passing touchdowns (36 and 35), and pass attempts (422). In the WIAC career record book, Jacobs ranks among the top 15 in passing efficiency, passing touchdowns, passing yards, and pass attempts. Jacobs holds the UWW records for career pass attempts (1,024) and career passing yards (7,866). He is ranked second in the program record book in career passing touchdowns (80) and career completions (539). A native of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and graduate of Sun Prairie High School, Jacobs earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2007. |

Alison Miller Tanking was a four-year member of the UW-Whitewater volleyball team from 2002-05. A 2005 Honorable Mention All-America honoree, Tanking helped lead UW-Whitewater secure Division III titles in 2002 and 2005. Part of four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, Tanking was a member of three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship teams – 2002, 2004 and 2005. Tanking earned all-conference and all-region honors in 2005 after hitting .347 on the season – a top ten mark in program history. She holds a top 25 mark in the league record book after registering an attack percentage of .750 in a match in 2004 – that mark is tied for sixth in the program record book. In the UW-Whitewater career record book, Tanking is ranked eighth in attack percentage (.317), eleventh in total blocks (373) and twenty-fourth in kills (865). A native of West Bend, Wisconsin and graduate of West Bend West High School, Tanking earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and middle School education in 2007.

Jim Winkler was a member of UW-Whitewater men's tennis team from 1983-86. Winkler was the first All-American in UW-Whitewater tennis history along with his doubles partner, UW-Whitewater Hall of Famer Eric Arvold. The duo advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship in 1985-86 – the first and only Warhawks to ever accomplish this feat in program history. Winkler holds the program record for #1 doubles wins in a season (31) and ranks among the top ten in UWW history with a .795-win percentage at #1 doubles and 52 combined singles and doubles wins 1986 (52). At the end of his collegiate career, Winkler held the program's career records for wins at #1 doubles (71) and doubles wins in all flights (95) - marks that rank second in program history nearly 40 years later. His 155 combined singles and doubles wins during his career is sixth in UW-Whitewater history. Winkler was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Time Men's Team as part of the league's Centennial Celebration in 2012. Winkler is a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin and is a graduate of Waukesha North High School. |

Brian Borland served as the Head Coach of the Track and Field program from 1995-99 before continuing at the helm of the women's program until 2002 and was a member of the Warhawk Football coaching staff from 1994-2014. While at the helm of the Warhawk women's track and field program, Borland coached UWW athletes to 42 conference titles, 44 All-America honors and 3 individual national titles. After leading UW-Whitewater to a fourth-place finish at the 2000 NCAA Division III Championships – the best finish in program history – Borland was named the national Coach of the Year. Eight athletes who competed under Borland have been inducted into the UW-Whitewater Hall of Fame. Borland served in multiple roles as a member of the Warhawk Football coaching staff. Over the course of 20 years, he held various offensive positions, moved to coaching defensive backs from 1998-01 and served as the defensive coordinator from 2002-14. During that span, UW-Whitewater won 12 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, appeared in nine NCAA Division III Championship games and won six Stagg Bowl titles (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014). A two-time WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year, Borland was named the Division III Coordinator of the Year by Footballscoop.com in 2013. He coached the Division III Defensive Players of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2013. Borland went on to serve as the Defensive Coordinator at the University of Buffalo (2015-20) and the University of Kansas (2021-24). Borland was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015.  |

John Buckley '82 is a proud UW-Whitewater alumnus, former Warhawk student-athlete, and one of the most dedicated champions of Warhawk Athletics. As the 1982 Co-Captain of the #9 Nationally ranked Men's tennis team, Buckley and his doubles partner, Jim Woyahn, achieved a National Doubles ranking of 15th – an extraordinary accomplishment that marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to the program. Together with his wife, Wendy, John has become one of the most generous supporters of UW-Whitewater Tennis. Over the past 20+ years the Buckleys have provided leading financial contributions to assist in creating a Tennis Endowment Fund, contributing to the Tennis Facilities Fund and supporting major capital improvements to both the indoor and outdoor complexes. Their generosity extends beyond financial gifts. The Buckleys have hosted the men's and women's teams during their annual spring trips to Southern California and have mentored student-athletes for years, creating a lasting impact on the program and its players. John's leadership extends across the university. He currently serves on the UW-Whitewater Foundation Board and, alongside Wendy, is Co-Chair of the university's "Our Stories, Our Future" $50+ million comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Buckleys exemplify what it means to give back – through time, talent, treasure and unwavering Warhawk pride. |
