The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball and gymnastics teams will combine to host the 5th Annual Lucas Burns Memorial Golf Outing on Friday, August 8, at Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon.
Check-in will begin at 11 a.m., and the shotgun start will take place at 12 p.m. A dinner and auction will immediately follow the completion of play.
Cost of the outing is $150 per player and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, dinner and eligibility to win hole prizes. All proceeds from the event will benefit the building of the Lucas Burns Men's Basketball and Elaine Yankunas Gymnastics Office Complex.

Burns, a member of the Warhawk men's basketball team from 2009-12, passed away in August of 2020 at the age of 30 following a battle against brain cancer. A graduate of Craig High School in Janesville, Burns was a part of two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances, and was a key rotational player for the program's third-ever national title in 2012.
A generous supporter of UW-Whitewater Athletics, Burns was the owner and operator of 841 Brewhouse in Whitewater at the time of his passing.
Yankunas served as head coach of the UW-Whitewater gymnastics program from 1977-84 and an instructor in physical education. Her husband, Mike, is a UW-W graduate and former student-athlete and assistant coach for the Warhawk football team.
