Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warhawks Rout Lawrence on the Road

Madson sets new career-high with 33-piece

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team took a quick lead and didn't look back on the road against Lawrence College. Collin Madson (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) set a new career-high with 33 points as the Warhawks defeat the Vikings 88-58.

The first half was even for the first 13-minutes, but the Warhawks started to convert from behind the arc to pull ahead in the first half. UWW finished the half on a 10-3 run to put the lead at 20 heading into the locker room.

UW-Whitewater hit seven three-pointers in the first half, going 50% from behind the arc in the first half. Lawrence was unable to keep pace, making only four three-pointers.

The Warhawks cooled off a bit in the second half from behind the arc, only making five threes. But the defense held Lawrence from getting clean looks from deep, as the Vikings went 1-for-4 in the second half. The lack of three's from the Vikings made the Warhawks keep a steady margin, eventually building the lead up to 30 with 6-minutes to go.

UWW kept the lead steady, finishing strong for the 88-58 win for their 5th win in a row.

Junior Collin Madson (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) led the team with a career-high 33 points. The guard went 12-for-15 from the floor, including 5 three-pointers on his way to the new career mark. Madson added 7 rebounds & two steals to his impressive stat-line.

Brock Marino (Lake Villa, Ill./Lakes Community), Richie Warren (Racine, Wis./Park), JR Lukenbill (Burlington, Wis./Burlington), and Kelton McKewen all tallied nine points behind Madson's 33. Jake Quast (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) led the team on the glass with 8 rebounds.

As a team, the Warhawks finished 51.5% (34-for-66) field goal percentage as a team with 44.4 % (12-for-27) from behind the arc.

The Warhawks return home one more time before the new year, taking on Carroll University on Saturday, December 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
