The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team completed the sweep over UW-Stevens Point with two wins in Saturday's doubleheader. After finishing out the end of Friday's game, the Warhawks (25-2, 14-2 WIAC) took game one, 8-1. Game 2 was lower scoring to start, but two four-run innings late pushed the Warhawks ahead of the Pointers (14-6, 8-10 WIAC), 10-2.
Game Three of the season began with another jack for the Warhawks, with
Eli Frank (Bayport, Wis./Bay Port) hitting a solo shot in the top of the first. The Warhawks extended their lead quickly, hitting, scoring on an error in the third, followed by a 3-run tater from
Dominik McVay (Mineral Point, Wis./Mineral Point) to put the Warhawks up 5-0 after four complete.
UW-Stevens Point scored their first run of the game with a solo home run in the 5th, but the Warhawks answered right back with a two-run inning in the next frame.
Aaron Holland (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) connected on an RBI double, followed by an RBI from
Matt Scolan (Downers Grove, Ill./South).Â
Scolan added another 'Hawk run in the 8th with a RBI double, closing out the game 8-1 in favor of UWW.Â
Max Huseboe (Ripon, Wis./Ripon) picked up the win, pitching 7.0 innings. Huseboe fanned 7 batters, only allowing one run and four hits.Â
The second game of the day started out slowly, but it didn't take long for the Warhawk bats to get going. The game was a stalemate at 0-0 until the fourth, when
Danny Hopper (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) sent one out of the park to give the Warhawks the first two runs of the game.
Eli Frank (Bayport, Wis./Bay Port) followed it with an RBI single, with
Adam Cootway (DePere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) scoring a runner on a sacrifice fly.
The Pointers were able to answer back & cut the lead to just two runs after their own two-run homer in the 5th. But the Warhawks had the momentum with another four-run inning in the 6th.
Aaron Holland (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) led things off with a solo shot dead center, with Cootway &
Sam Paden (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) picking up the other two RBIs in the frame. The Pointers scored two after the turn, each on solo jacks, but the Warhawks closed out the game with a quick two-runs in the ninth, closing out the 10-4 victory.Â
It was a historic day for
Matt Scolan (Downers Grove, Ill./South) at the plate & on the base path. Scolan broke the Warhawk career hits with his first hit of the game, and added his 260th hit of his career. Scolan also rounded the bases three times, tying the WIAC record for career runs at 225.Â
Over the four-game sweep, the Warhawks out up 56 runs & 13 home runs.

Aaron Holland (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) added two home runs & 7 RBIs each.Â
