UW-W Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week (April 14th)

Baseball

Position: Sam Paden – Senior – Outfielder – Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville
 

Sam Paden led the Warhawks with a .565 batting average on the week, recording 13 hits in his 23 at-bats. Paden knocked in six runners while rounding the bases four times himself. The senior had a four-hit outing in the third game of the Warhwks series against No. 8 UW- La Crosse. Paden extends his hitting streak to nine games through Sunday’s games. 
 

Pitcher: Max Huseboe – Senior – RHP – Ripon, Wis./Ripon
 

Max Husboe pitched 11.2 innings in two appearances this week against UW-Oshkosh and No. 8 UW-La Crosse. Against the Titans, Huseboe only allowed one earned run in the win, striking out seven. Against the Eagles, Huseboe notched six Ks, with only 5 hits and one earned run. The senior finished his week with a 1.54 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.
 

Softball

Position: Maggie Ward - Junior - Designated Player - Downers Grove, Ill./North


Maggie Ward hit .583 for the week going 7-12 at the plate to help the Warhawks to a 5-1 record on the diamond. The junior jumped up to the two-spot in the lineup as the designated player for the final three games of the week to go 5-9 with a double, a triple and three RBI. For the week, Ward posted an on base percentage of .583 and slugging percentage of .833. 
 

Pitcher: Madi DeBennette - Sophomore - Pitcher - Wadsworth, Ill./Carmel Catholic
 

Madi DeBennette picked up wins in all three of her appearances in the circle without allowing a single earned run last week. The sophomore opened the week with a one-hitter in six innings of work at Elmhurst. She struck out three in the 8-0 win for UWW. DeBennette fanned eight to register the win in 4.1 innings at Augustana. She wrapped up the week with a complete game three-hitter in UWW's 2-0 win over Carthage Sunday. She struck out four without issuing a walk in that contest. For the week, DeBennette struck out 15 in 17.1 innings of work with an ERA of 0.00. 
 

Men's Tennis

Singles: Drew Van Fossen – Senior – Germantown, Wis./Germantown
 

Drew Van Fossen helped the Warhawks earn two conference sweeps to begin WIAC play this past Saturday. Van Fossen won his first match of the day at No. 4 singles in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). In the second match on Saturday, the senior moved up to the top singles flight, where he took the 6-4, 7-5 over UW-Stevens Point’s Benoy. 
 

Doubles:  Tyler Nelson – Junior -- Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee and Payton Adkisson – Senior – Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson
 

Tyler Nelson and Payton Adkisson paired up in the Warhawks two-doubles flights in the two conference dual matches on Saturday. The pair opened up the day with a 6-3 victory against UW-Eau Claire, before surviving a tiebreaker against UW-Stevens Point in match two, 7-6(2).
 

Track & Field

Patzka, Christian

Men's Track: Christian Patzka - Senior - Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights
 

Christian Patzka was the top Division III finisher in the 5,000 at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday. The senior crossed the line in 14:02.10 - the third-fastest time in the nation this season and the fastest of the week. He claimed third at the meet behind two Division I athletes.
 

Koppen, Jackson

Men's Field: Jackson Koppen - Sophomore - Decathlon - Sun Prairie, Wis./East
 

Jackson Koppen led the Warhawks in the decathlon in Oshkosh over the weekend. The sophomore registered a career-best total of 5963 to finish fifth.

Track: 4x100 Relay – Danielle Pouska – Junior – Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs; Dakota Mitchell – Freshman – Sun Prairie, Wis./West; Kelly Huerta – Freshman – McHenry, Ill./McHenry; Cici Stennett – Freshman – Barrington, Ill.
 

The UW-Whitewater women’s 4x100 relay team set the program record for the second consecutive meet and jumped to third in the national rankings with their performance at the UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday. Danielle Pouska, Dakota Mitchell, Kelly Huerta and Cici Stennett combined for a clocking of 46.03 - the third-fastest in Division III this season - to break their previous mark by six-tenths. 
 

Czarnecki, Kenni

Women's Field: Kenni Czarnecki - Senior - Throws - Muskego, Wis./Muskego
 

Kenni Czarnecki finished among the top six in all three throws at the UW-Platteville Invitational over the weekend. The senior claimed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.09 meters (42-11.5). Czarnecki was fifth in the hammer with a distance of 50.74 meters (166-6) and she added a sixth place finish in the discus with a mark of 41.55 meters (136-4).
