The UW-Whitewater track and field program opened the 2025 spring season at three meets this week.
Raleigh Relays -- Raleigh, NC
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) represented UW-Whitewater at the Raleigh Relays competing in a field of more than 100 runners - mostly Division I athletes. Schlender finished 78th with a time of 29:29.84.
WashU Distance Carnival -- St. Louis, MO
Seven Warhawks competed at the WashU Distance Carnival this week. Three UWW men finished among the top 50 in a field of more than 175 runners in the 10,000-meter run.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) led the way with a time of 30:13.19 to claim 30th.
Alex Metko (Brillion, Wis./) and Conner Murphy crossed the line back-to-back with times of 30:43.83 and 30:44.36.
Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) ran the women's 10,000, crossing the line with a time of 38:35.49 - a mark that ranks sixth in the UWW record book. She was 66th in the final results.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) (4:45.13),
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) (4:52.86) and
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) (3:52.49) represented UWW in the 1500-meter run.
First Chance Invitational -- Naperville, IL (as of 9:20 pm, the women's discus and shot put results were unavailable)
Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) highlighted the Warhawk women at the meet with a first place finish in the 100. She crossed the line in 12.04 to win the race by nearly three-tenths. Huerta was also the runner-up in the 200 with a time of 25.02 - a mark that ranks seventh in the Warhawk record book.
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) secured bronze in both events with times of 12.34 and 25.33.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) represented the UW-Whitewater men in both races. He finished sixth in the 100 (10.81) and seventh in the 200 (22.02).
Jack Erickson (Belleville, Wis./) (22.09) and
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) (22.19) finished eighth and ninth in the 200 respectively.
In the hurdles,
Sam Burge (Mukwonago, Wis./) recorded the eighth-fastest time in program history in the 100 hurdles - 15.37 - to finish third.
Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) was fifth with a time of 15.57.
Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) was seventh in the men's 110 hurdles with a time of 15.94.
Kyle Popowski (Lake Mills, Wis./) was fifth in the 400 hurdles with a clocking of 58.25.
A pair of Warhawks finished among the top eight in the men's 800.
Colin Lewandowski (Elmhurst, Ill./York) posted a runner-up time of 1:55.32 while
Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) was eighth with a clocking of 1:58.05.
UW-Whitewater had the runner-up in the men's and women's high jump competitions.
Carson Buser (Byron, Ill.) registered a height of 1.95 meters (6-4.75) for the men while
Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South) cleared the bar at 1.59 meters (5-2.5).
Abby Burr (Lancaster, Wis./) and
Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) tied for fourth with a mark of 1.54 meters (5-0.5).
Max Wallace (West Allis, Wis./Hale) added another silver for UWW in the triple jump with a leap of 13.99 meters (45-10.75). On the women's side
Lexie Weier's (Mineral Point, WI/) jump of 10.95 meters (35-11.25) was good for third. Conner Anderson claimed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.82 meters (22-4.5).
Malerie Morey (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and
Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) shared fourth in the women's pole vault - each clearing a height of 3.21 meters (10-6.25).
Multiple Warhawks posted top eight finishes in the throws.
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) and
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led in the hammer throw. Larsen secured bronze on the men's competition with a toss of 55.32 meters (181-6). Czarnecki was third on the women's side with a mark of 49.55 meters (162-6).
Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) was eighth in the event with a throw of 44.34 meters (145-6).
Logan Frey (Brookfield, Wis./East) was the runner-up in the discus with a heave of 46.42 meters (152-3) and added an eighth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.50 meters (44-3.5).
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) tied for third in the discus with a mark of 45.58 meters (149-6) while
Jordan Jackson's (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) throw of 13.72 meters (45-0.25) was good for seventh in the shot put.
