The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team moved to 4-0 against WIAC opponents with a 191-950-184.400 victory at Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday afternoon.
The Warhawks set the tone on the uneven bars as UWW swept the top seven places in the event.
Hayden Gough (Dallas, Texas/Dallas International School) led the way with a 9.65.
Ariana Goodwin (Elgin, Ill./The Einstein Academy) persevered after a broken grip led to a lengthy delay and allowed a restart of her routine. She scored a 9.6 to tie for second with teammate
Ava Pesch (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union).
Gracie Talley (Collierville, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian) and
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) rounded out the Warhawks' scoring five with matching 9.55s.
On the vault,
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) paced UWW with a 9.675 for gold.
Elaine Copeland (Arlington, Texas/University Prep) claimed silver with a vault scoring 9.65.
Chloe Hammond (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) secured a share of third with a 9.625 while
Alayna Fern's (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) 9.575 tied for fifth and Maliya Pound added a seventh-place score of 9.525 to the team total.
Kelsey Kollhoff (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) shared top honors on the floor exercise with a routine scoring 9.675. Moore's 9.65 was good for third while
Jane Heffernan (Galway, Ireland/Jesus & Mary Secondary School) and Hammond shared fourth with scores of 9.625.
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) (9.6) capped the scoring five with a 9.6.
UW-Whitewater closed the meet on the balance beam and Hammond made it a clean sweep for Warhawks taking gold. Hammond registered a 9.8 for the second straight meet to tally her fourth consecutive beam gold. Kollhoff (9.775) and
Kristen Swiebocki (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) (9.75) tallied the next two highest scores on the apparatus as UWW swept the podium on the beam.
Ashnaya Gupta (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) claimed a share of fifth with a 9.575 and
Tegan Haberstock (Alberta, Canada/National Sport School) added an 8.925 to round out the scoring five.
The Warhawks will return to Russell Arena to host UW-Oshkosh Saturday, February 15 at 4 PM. UWW will recognize the 2024 All-Americans and National Champion following the meet. It has also been designated the team's annual Alumni Night, Cause Meet and Youth Night.
