Whitewater, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team wrapped up the regular season with a stellar performance Saturday evening in Russell Arena. The Warhawks made their mark in the program record book with top ten team totals on each apparatus leading to the second-highest team total in program history in a 194.025-185.300 win over Hamline.
The Warhawks swept the top three in every event in the phenomenal total team performance Saturday. Opening the meet on the vault, UWW gymnasts recorded the top five scores in the dual led by a 9.75 from
Sofia Spadafora (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/Saint Thomas of Villanova).
Siena Vavala (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada/King City Secondary School) (9.725),
Brianna Balian (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) (9.7),
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) (9.6) and
Maliyah Pound (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) (9.575) rounded out scoring five. UW-Whitewater's vault total of 48.350 is the tenth-best in program history.
The uneven bars was a showcase event for the Warhawks Saturday as UWW once again swept the top five spots.
Elaine Copeland (Arlington, Texas/University Prep) led the way with a career-high 9.825 that ranks fourth in program history.
Ariana Goodwin (Elgin, Ill./The Einstein Academy) matched her career best score of 9.8 to finish second followed by a 9.775 from
Jane Heffernan (Galway, Ireland/Jesus & Mary Secondary School) for another career best and top 20 mark.
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added a 9.75 while Balian and
Caroline Saenz (Houston, Texas/Cy-Fair) each recorded 9.65s. UWW's scoring five combined for the second-highest score in program history on the apparatus, 48.800.
Magel topped the podium on the balance beam with a routine scoring 9.775. Spadafora claimed her second medal of the night with a 9.75 for silver.
Kristen Swiebocki (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) secured third with a 9.675 to make it another Warhawk sweep.
Ashnaya Gupta (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was fifth with a 9.6 and Heffernan wrapped up the scoring crew with a 9.45. Combining for a total of 48.250, the Warhawks registered the eighth-highest beam total in UWW history.
UW-Whitewater capped the night with a fantastic team floor performance. The Warhawks totaled 48.625 - ranked ninth in the program record book. Copeland picked up her second gold of the night with a 9.775 followed by Magel's 9.75. Three Warhawks shared bronze, all scoring 9.7, including
Tegan Haberstock (Alberta, Canada/National Sport School), Heffernan and Gupta.
Magel was the sole all-arounder in the dual accumulating a total of 38.125 across the four events.
The Warhawks will head to Winona, Minnesota for the 2026 NCGA West Regional and WIAC Championships on March 7. The NCGA National Championship is slated for Friday, March 20 in Cortland, New York.
