The UW-Whitewater women's gymnastics team fell by the slimmest of margins - a single tenth proving to be the difference (192.600-192.500) - at UW-La Crosse Friday evening.
The Warhawks opened the meet on the bars.
Ariana Goodwin (Elgin, Ill./The Einstein Academy) led the way with a 9.675 to secure gold in the event.
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tied for fourth with a 9.6 followed by a 9.575 from
Hayden Gough (Dallas, Texas/Dallas International School), a 9.55 from
Ava Pesch (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and a 9.5 by
Gracie Talley (Collierville, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian).
UWW moved on to the vault where they posted a top 20 team total of 48.250.
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) paced the Warhawks with a 9.725 to claim third.
Alayna Fern (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) registered a 9.7 to finish fourth while Pesch and
Elaine Copeland (Arlington, Texas/University Prep) posted matching 9.625s.
Brianna Balian (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) and
Chloe Hammond (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) each scored 9.575 to round out the team total.
On the floor, UW-Whitewater's scoring five totaled 48.325 - a top 20 mark in program history.
Kelsey Kollhoff (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) bolstered the team total with a 9.775 to win the event.
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) registered a 9.725 to finish fourth. Hammond and Moore shared seventh with scores of 9.625 with Goodwin wrapping up the group with a 9.575.
The Warhawks capped the meet with another top 20 mark on the balance beam with a team score of 48.025 on the apparatus. Kollhoff and Magel shared second with scores of 9.675.
Tegan Haberstock (Alberta, Canada/National Sport School) scored a 9.575 with
Ashnaya Gupta (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Hammond each added 9.55s.
The dual at UWL kicked off a jam packed weekend for UW-Whitewater as the Warhawks will have a day of travel Saturday. On Sunday, the Warhawks will take on Division I's Western Michigan and Northern Illinois in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
