Belton, Texas -- The No. 10 UW-Whitewater women's basketball team wrapped up their Texas trip in dominating fashion with a 75-40 win over No. 14 East Texas Baptist.
It was all Warhawks from the jump -- UWW's full court pressure and stifling defense forced 36 Tiger turnovers in the game. The Warhawk offense capitalized on the miscues outscoring ETBU 28-9 on points off turnovers and 17-0 on fastbreak opportunities.
UW-Whitewater built a nine-point advantage during the first quarter that held all the way until halftime. On the other side of the break, the Warhawks came out on fire scoring the first 13 points of the third quarter. By the end of the third, the UWW lead had swelled to 24, 53-29.
Mia Gillis (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) and Ashley Schlabowski each registered seven points in the period combining to go 6-9 from the field.
The Warhawks hit their largest lead of 37 twice in the fourth, cruising to the 35-point victory.
Eleven UWW players entered the scoring column in the contest. Gillis led the way with 15 on 7-10 from the floor. She added six rebounds and a steal.
Bri McCurdy (St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls) added 12 points and registered a game-high six assists and five steals.
Camryn Nies (Platteville, Wis./Platteville) rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 while tallying three assists and three steals in the game.
Logan Lowry (Appleton, Wis./East) was the most active on the glass for UW-Whitewater posting seven rebounds.
The Warhawks will wrap up 2025 with a pair of games in Minnesota. UWW will head to Minneapolis to take on Augsburg on December 29 before capping 2025 in St. Peter against Gustavus Adolphus on December 30. UW-Whitewater will kick off Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play in the new year with a road trip to UW-Oshkosh on January 3 for a top ten matchup against the Titans.
