Warhawks Top Titans in Regular Season Finale

Oshkosh, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater football team defeated UW-Oshkosh 24-7 on the road in the regular season finale Saturday.

The selection show for the 2025 NCAA Division III Football Championship is scheduled for Sunday, November 16 at 4 PM CT. The full 40-team field including the 27 automatic qualifiers and 13 at-large bids and all host locations will be announced during the selection show.

The Warhawks opened the game with a long scoring drive to take an early lead and set the tone. The first offensive possession of the game was a 14-play, 67-yard touchdown drive that took over seven minutes off the clock. Justin Klinkner (Two Rivers, Wis./Two Rivers) capped the drive with a two-yard TD pass to tight end Collin Fritts (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin Woodville). Seth Adams (Utica, Ill./La Salle-Peru) hit the point after for the 7-0 lead.

UW-Whitewater's defense forced a punt on the Titans' first possession of the game and the offense took advantage. From 16 yards out, Klinkner dropped back, scanned and found Fritts wide open to his left for the touchdown. Adams split the uprights for a second time for a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The defense came up big again on UWO's next drive. Three plays in, Deven Magli (Deforest, Wis./Deforest) jumped a passing lane to pick off the Titan quarterback at the UWW 36. His 37-yard return gave the Warhawks fantastic field position, but UWW was unable to convert on fourth down. However, it didn't take long for the offense to come back out -- two plays later, Kaden Sleets (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) forced a fumble that was recovered by Jayden Fowler (Morton Grove, Ill./Niles Township West) at UWO's 25. UW-Whitewater capitalized, this time with a 36-yard field goal from Adams for a 17-0 lead. UWW took that lead into halftime.

On the other side of the break, UW-Oshkosh got on the board with a touchdown midway through the third. The Warhawks responded with another long drive that was capped with a three-yard Klinkner to Patrick Lippe (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington) connection. Adams' point after made it 24-7 UWW.

UW-Whitewater's defense sealed the game. Karsten Libby (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) intercepted a pass on UWO's next drive. On the Titans' final offensive opportunity, Efrein Ramirez (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) broke up a pass on fourth down to give UWW the ball and allow the offense to kneel out the clock.

Klinkner completed 12 of 21 for 94 yards adding three passing touchdowns. Ty Schultz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) was the leading Warhawk rusher with 90 yards on 21 attempts. Lippe was the top target with five catches including the TD reception.

Defensively, Ethan Gallagher (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) paced the Warhawks with 10 tackles. Libby, Fowler and Ben Bielawski (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) all tallied a sack in the game.
