Coach Guinn Sets Warhawk Wins Record with 165th Win

Warhawks defeat Millikin 5-2

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated Millikin 5-2 on Fiskum Field to give Head Coach Tony Guinn his 165th win at the helm of the Warhawk program, setting the Warhawk Record for Most Wins, surpassing former Warhawk coach Greg Henschel (1999-2011).

The Warhawks opened the game, scoring two quick goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. Zeke Healy (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) opened the scoring, collecting the rebound of his own shot to put the Warhawks up 1-0 at the 2-minute mark. Just 90 seconds later, Matt White (Bangor, Northern Ireland/Bangor Grammar) headed the ball in off a corner-kick from Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township).

Millikin was able to get their footing, putting their first shot on goal in the 7th minute, and taking a few more looks with a corner, but the Warhawks were able to strike again. Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) kickstarted a break to open up the cross. James Kiraly (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) finished off the play for a 3-0 lead.

Coach Guinn made a full 11-for-11 sub in the 20th minute, but the Warhawks didn't lose a step, scoring their fourth unanswered goal in the 27th minute. Liam Smier tacked on the goal with the assist coming from Franklin Kunfira (West Bend, Wis./West Bend West)

Heading into the second half, Millikin turned on the offense, scoring two goals in the second half to avoid the shut-out. The Warhawks added their own goal in the second half to keep the margin at three goals though. Nil Calvo (Barcelona, Spain/Parkview) took a free kick from midfield, which Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) headed over to Owen Winegar (Arlington Heights, Ill./Fremd) for the Warhawks 5th goal.

The Warhawks will head up to UW-Eau Claire for their next contest, taking on the Blugolds in a Saturday night match on October 25th. Kick-off is set for 7 PM.
