Time for another installment of Friday Night Lights at The Perk! The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will host UW-Stout this Friday in another top 25 matchup. Kickoff under the lights is set for 7 PM.
RANKINGS
The Warhawks are ranked 10th in the latest American Football Coaches Association poll and 9th according to D3football.com. The Blue Devils are receiving votes in the AFCA poll and ranked 20th according to D3football.
SERIES
UW-Whitewater dominates the all-time series against UW-Stout with a 54-11-2 record. The Warhawks captured the first victory, 40-0 in 1928, but the Blue Devils own the current streak after securing a 29-27 win in Menomonie last season. The longest win streak belongs to UWW - 21 games (2002-2023). The Warhawks have not lost to UWS in Perkins Stadium since 2000 (13-14).Â
LAST TIME OUT - UWW
UW-Whitewater cruised to a 45-14 win at UW-Stevens Point. The Warhawks put up 24 points in the first half including 14-point bookends. The offense was on point totaling 526 yards while the defense held UWSP to just 56 yards on the ground.Â
Justin Klinkner (Two Rivers, Wis./Two Rivers) completed 29-of-37 for 336 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added a third touchdown on the ground.
Brian Stanton (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South),
Cole Berghorn (Walworth, Wis./Badger) and
Tyler Vasey (Crystal Lake, Ill/Prairie Ridge) also found paydirt with their feet. Vasey was the top target hauling in seven catches for 105 yards.
Blake Haggerty (Castle Rock, Colo./Castle View) and
Patrick Lippe (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington) each caught TD passes in the game.Â
Defensively,
Ethan Gallagher (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) paced UWW with eight tackles - all on rushing plays.
Efrein Ramirez (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and
Jayden Fowler (Morton Grove, Ill./Niles Township West) forced fumbles while
Deven Magli (Deforest, Wis./Deforest) had an interception.Â
LAST TIME OUT - UWS
UW-Stout came back to defeat then #11/14 UW-Oshkosh 27-16 -- scoring all 27 points in the second half. Despite trailing 16-0 early in the third, the Blue Devil offense, more specifically quarterback Adam Moen, got going in the second half scoring 27 unanswered points.Â
Adam Moen connected with receivers on three touchdown passes including a 60-yarder and a 58-yarder. He ended up with 315 yards on 17-of-28. Moen also scored in the ground game accounting for all four TDs.Â
The UWS defense was bolstered by an eight-tackle performance from Kyle Dietzen.Â
