The No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball team picked up two wins Saturday to close out their first home invitational of the season. The Warhawks are now 4-0 after a 3-1 (25-18, 27-25, 19-25, 25-22) win over Augsburg and 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-9) sweep of Knox.
The Warhawks hammered down 60 kills against the Auggies Saturday with 39 coming off of the powerful swings from UWW's outside attack tandem of
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and
Alayna Jansky (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago). Weinfurt led all hitters with 20 kills adding a pair of aces, two blocks and nine digs. Jansky pounded down 19 kills, hitting .531 on the match, while adding a team-high 15 digs.
Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) had a strong match at the net with seven kills and six block assists.
Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) set up the Warhawk attackers with 50 assists adding 12 digs and four block assists.
Libero
Jaedynn Evans (Kalona, Iowa/Iowa City Regina) registered 13 digs. Fellow libero and server-extraordinaire Riley Braunschweig led all players with three aces.
In the second match against Knox, setters
Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) and
Kate Bahrke (Oconto, Wis./Oconto) ran the offense combining for 28 assists. The duo also put the pressure on from the service line with eight aces.
Offensively,
Sienna Roling (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and
Payton Kuepers (Madison, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) led the way with eight kills each. Roling added a team-high seven digs on the match.
Emily Lego (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) was efficient at the net hitting .750 with seven kills in three sets played.
