Patzka Sets Program Record at Minnesota

Three Warhawks competed in the Gary Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota Wednesday evening. All three improved their national marks in their respective events.

Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) recorded the top time in Division III this season and broke the program record in the 5,000 at the meet. He was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 13:51.23 - a stadium record at Minnesota. That mark breaks the UWW record he set in 2023 by nearly four seconds.

Teammate Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) also competed in the event. Schlender registered a season best time of 14:01.27 to finish fifth. His mark is the eighth-fastest in the nation in the 5,000.

Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) posted a season best in the 1,500 to finish eleventh. His clocking of 3:50.09 is ranked 24th in Division III this season.

The Gary Wilson Invitational featured athletes from more than 40 NCAA Division I, II or III institutions and track clubs including the United States National Team.
