The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team took a ten-point lead at halftime and came out running, going up by 30 points in less than 10 minutes. The Warhawks defeated UW-Stevens Point 81-55 on Wednesday night.
The Warhawks scored seven straight points after Stevens Point's opening basket to take a 7-2 lead early in the game. The Pointer battled back, and took a 21-20 point lead around 8-minutes left in the first half. The Warhawks locked down and grinded out the half, pulling out to a 10-point lead at halftime.Â
After the break, the Warhawks turned up a notch and come out to a 19-2 run to start the half. The defense didn't allow a single field goal from the Pointers for the first 6 minutes of the half, with UWSP only picking up four points from the free throw line in that stretch.
After another 8-0 run, the Warhawks took their biggest lead of the night at 33 points with around 8 minutes left in the game. The Warhawks finished out the game with an 81-55 victory.
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) led all scorers with 25 points on 9-for-12 from the floor including four three pointers.Â
Delvin Barnstable (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Lutheran) excelled on both ends of the court, with 13 points and a career-high 4 blocks.Â
Jameer Barker (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points of his own, and assisted on seven Warhawk baskets.Â
UWW Men's Hoops will head out on the road for their next game, traveling to UW-La Crosse. Tip-off against the Eagles is scheduled for 5 PM. Last time out, the Eagles defeated the Warhawks 85-75.
