The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program competed at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open Friday. The Warhawk men finished 3rd in a 12-team field while the women were 5th out of 11 teams.
Myles Anderson (Milwaukee, Wis./Lutheran) matched his top time of the season in the 60-meter dash at the meet. He crossed the line first with a time of 6.85 while teammate
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) was fifth with a clocking of 6.99. In the hurdles version of the 60,
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished 1-2. Cystrunk outstretched Thomas by .03 with a time of 8.16 to win the event.
Three Warhawks finished among the top eight in the 3,000 led by
Brandon Gang's (Waukesha, Wis./West) bronze time of 8:44.62.
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) crossed the line in 8:45.03 to finish fifth while Conner Murphy added seventh-place points to the team total.
Jordan Hall (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) paced UWW in the field events with a top finish in the triple jump. His lead of 13.97 meters was tops at the meet while
Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North) posted a mark of 13.71 meters for fifth.
UW-Whitewater's distance medley relay squad of
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee),
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial),
Craig Hundley (Grayslake, IL/North) and
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) was clocked in 9:51.12 to finish second at the meet. On the women's side,
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) was joined by
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem),
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) and
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) to combine for a time of 11:57.18 - good for fifth at the meet.
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) picked up a gold in the 200 to lead the Warhawk women. She crossed the line in 25.02 to win the event. Bilodeau came in third with a clocking of 25.97 while Eden Bown finished eighth in the event.
Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) finished fourth in the fastest event of the day. She was clocked in 7.96 in the 60-meter dash.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield), the national leader in the pole vault, won the competition with a height of 4.06 meters. Teammate
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) was seventh in the event with a height of 3.41 meters.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) finished as the runner-up in the weight throw with a heave of 17.31 meters.
Mikayla Madlena (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) finished fifth in the event with a mark of 16.16 meters while adding a seventh-place finish in the shot put.
