The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 61-58 on the second day of the North Beach Plastic Surgery Winter Classic.
UW-Whitewater won the first half, with a three point advantage after the first 20 minutes. The Warhawks kept their small margin alive with their rebounding, with 22 total rebounds & 7 offensive rebounds.
Wisconsin-Whitewater led Virginia Wesleyan 28-25 after the first half. The visiting team shot 11-for-26 from the field, including four 3-pointers, and scored 13 points off the bench. Wisconsin-Whitewater also controlled the boards with 22 total rebounds, 15 of which were defensive, while committing nine turnovers.
The second half was back & forth, with nine ties and 11 lead changes during the half. The Marlins sealed the game from the line, with a perfect 4-for-4 in the final minute of play.
Carter Capstran (Franklin, Wis./) led the team with 14 points, adding on an impressive 7 rebounds & four assists.
Jameer Barker (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) added UWW with 13 points &
Luke Bara (Waukesha, Wis./Muskego) rounded out scoring with 10 points.
UWW basketball team is back out on the court against Simpson on December 21, 2024. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa.
