The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team won a pair of matches hosted by UW-River Falls Saturday. The Warhawks swept the Falcons 25-17, 25-12, 31-29 before taking down Macalester 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.
In the opener against UW-River Falls, the Warhawks cruised to a 2-0 lead in the match. The third set was a different story and ended up being the longest of the season for UWW.
The Warhawks jumped out to a 6-2 lead before the Falcons battled back to claim a 13-10 advantage. The UWRF lead grew to as much as five, 20-15, but UW-Whitewater continued to battle. A 5-0 run with
Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) at the service line was bolstered by a pair of kills from right side
Chloe Werner (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) to give UWW a 22-21 lead.
The Falcons stopped the run with a kill but
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) hammered the next ball down and
Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) followed with a kill of her own to give UW-Whitewater match point, 24-22.
UWRF tied it before
Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) gave the Warhawks a 25-24 advantage on a kill. The Falcons tallied the next two before the teams traded points all the way to 29-28 in favor of the host institution. An attack error knotted the set 29-29 before Werner and Weinfurt put the finishing touches on the match with a pair of kills.
Alayna Jansky (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) led UWW offensively with 15 kills hitting .444 in the match. Weinfurt and Werner each tallied eight in the contest. Krzus registered 30 assists.
Defensively,
Ally Longden (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) posted 10 digs while Krzus and Dix led the blockers with four each.
UW-Whitewater continued to roll against Macalester hitting .359 while the defense held the Scots to .141.
Jansky and Weinfurt combined to hit .400 with 33 kills from the outside. Dix hit .583 with 8 kills in 12 attempts with a single attack error.
Krzus added 38 assists in the second match of the day.

Jaedynn Evans (Kalona, Iowa/Iowa City Regina) paced UWW with 15 digs while
Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) tallied four blocks.
