The Warhawks are back on the road this week. UW-Whitewater will head to Platteville, Wis. to take on the Pioneers in the annual George Chryst Memorial Bowl.
The Warhawks are ranked 19th in the latest D3football.com and 22nd American Football Coaches Association Division III polls. UW-Platteville is eighth and eleventh respectively in the pair of national polls.
UWW LAST TIME OUT
The Warhawks put up big numbers in a 66-0 win over UW-Stevens Point under the lights in Perkins Stadium last Friday. UW-Whitewater registered 31 first downs and over 600 yards of offense in the game. Meanwhile the UWW defense held the Pointers to just seven first downs and 124 yards of total offense.
Tyler Vasey (Crystal Lake, Ill/Prairie Ridge) set the tone returning the opening kick for an 88-yard score -- his third kick return TD of the season. Jackson Chryst (Orinda, Calif./Palo Alto) was tapped for the start at quarterback and completed 11 of 13 for 266 yards adding three touchdowns through the air. Ty Schultz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) led the ground attack with 130 yards on 14 carries (an average of 9.3 per rush) with a pair of TDs.
More than 25 Warhawks recorded a tackle in the contest. Efrein Ramirez (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and Kamrin Hutt (Schaumburg, Ill./Maine West) tallied tackles for a loss while Mason Stepanski (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and Karsten Libby (Wheaton, Ill./North) hauled in interceptions to pace the defense.
UWP LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers came up short in a 24-17 loss to then-No. 16 UW-Oshkosh at Titan Stadium last week. UWP did not trail until late in the third when the Titans went up 17-1. UWO held the advantage the rest of the way.
Michael Priami was 23-35 for 196 yards, a touchdown and an interception through the air. On the ground, Zackary Bothun picked up 125 yards on 28 carries with one rushing TD. Garrett Stare was the top target with 76 yards on six receptions including a touchdown.
Defensively, Elijah Krantz registered 11 tackles and a quarterback hurry while Andrey Denson had an interception in the game.

The Warhawks' series against the Pioneers is the longest-standing for UWW against a WIAC opponent. Saturday marks the 116th meeting between the two teams.
Since 1995, the annual matchup has been designated the George Chryst Memorial Bowl in honor of UW-Platteville's legendary coach. UW-Whitewater is 25-3 since the battle for the Miner's Axe began.
