Ketterhagen Ford Football Preview -- Game 6 vs. UWSP

Friday Night Lights. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will host UW-Stevens Point for a game under the lights at Perkins Stadium Friday, October 18. Kickoff for the annual Military Appreciation Game brought to you in partnership with the Wisconsin Army National Guard is 7 p.m. 

The Warhawks are ranked 19th in the latest D3football.com and 22nd American Football Coaches Association Division III polls. UW-Stevens Point is not ranked in the pair of national polls. 

UWW LAST TIME OUT
The Warhawks will look to rebound from a 29-27 loss at UW-Stout last week. UW-Whitewater held a 17-10 advantage after the first quarter, but the Blue Devils scored nine unanswered from the end of the second to the beginning of the fourth to take a 29-20 lead. UWW scored with less than five minutes to go and had the final possession but were unable to get into field goal range. 

Quarterback Jason Ceniti (Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial) was 16-27 for 281 yards with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions. Brian Stanton (Plainfield, Ill./South) averaged 6.6 yards per carry on five touches in the contest. Brian Wilterdink (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) was the top receiver with 113 yards on five catches including a 73-yard touchdown grab. 

Defensively, Ethan Gallagher (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) led UWW with 11 tackles including 2.5 for a loss of six yards. 

UWSP LAST TIME OUT
The Pointers are coming off of a 41-0 loss at UW-Eau Claire. Charlie Smith led the offense going 12-22 for 83 yards and two interceptions through the air. Brycen Cashin tallied 34 yards on 12 carries while Miles Gallagher hauled in five catches for 43 yards. 

Defensively, Carson Van Ess posted a game-high 13 tackles.

SERIES
This is the 102nd meeting between the Warhawks and Pointers. This series is tied longest-standing for UW-Whitewater against a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent (UW-Platteville). The first game of the historic series took place in 1895 with UWW winning 10-0. 

The Warhawks have won the last 10 matchups. Since the opening of Perkins Stadium in 1970, UW-Whitewater is 22-4 against the Pointers on the Warhawks' home field.
