The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater traveled over to UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday night. In a fast-paced, high-scoring affair, the Pointers outpaced the Warhawks, winning 100-92.Â
The Warhawks and Pointers battled it out for the first few minutes, with neither team gaining a solid lead on the game. In the first half alone, there were 15 lead changes and the game was tied on 9 separate occasions.
UW-Whitewater led by as much as 6 points, but a 7-0 run by Stevens Point saw the Pointers regaining the lead with 7-minutes left in the half. For the rest of the half, the teams traded baskets before Stevens Point scored the final 4 points of the half to take the 52-48 lead at halftime.
After the break, the Pointers kept the foot on the gas. Slowly pulling away from the Warhawks. Around the 10-minute mark of the second half, UW-Whitewater closed the Pointer lead down to 4-points, but UWSP kept finding ways to score, keeping the Warhawks at bay. When the final buzzer sounded, Stevens Point led 100-92.Â
The high-scoring game saw both teams shooting lights out, but Stevens Point had the better marks of the night. The Pointers shot 60.7% from the floor (37 for 61) with 50.0% from deep (9 for 18) and 85.0% from the free throw line (17 for 20). In comparison, the Warhawks made 46.8% of their shots (29 for 62), 36.0% from deep (9 for25) and 80.6% from the free throw line (25 for 31).

Miles Barnstable (Sheboygan, Wis./Howards Grove) leading all scorers with 25 points.
James Kelley (Milwaukee, WI/St. John's Northwestern Military Academy) finished with 16 points.
Delvin Barnstable (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Lutheran)Â and
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) both finished with 14 andÂ
Jameer Barker (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) rounded out the scoring with 13 points.
The Pointers were led by Josiah Butler with 24 points and Malik Abdul-Wahid with 22 points.Â
The Warhawks will head out on the road to UW-Stout this Saturday to take on the Blue Devils.Â
