The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team picked up their third win of the season, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 on Wednesday night.
The Warhawks (3-0) opened up scoring first, pressuring the goalie with a volley of shots.
Hegan Genua (San Sebastian, Spain/Ekintza Ikastola) was able to control a rebound and lay it in to put the Warhawks up 1-0.
The first half went back and forth, with
Duncan Morgan (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) stopping all Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1-2) shots.
Faizan Mohiuddin (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) eyed up another great opportunity to put the Warhawks up by two, but his shot rattled the inside of the post.Â
The second-half started with some pressure from the Warriors, but the Warhawk defense was able to clear out the attempts by the Wisconsin Lutheran offense. The Warhawks were then able to extend their lead on a beautiful placed cross by
Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall).
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) slid the cross past the goalie, picking up the brace.Â
Not long after,
Tucker Jahns (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) placed a rocket of a shot right at the Warrior goalie. The Warhawks eventually added to the lead with one minute remaining.
Alex Gotz (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) placed a shot into the high-left corner to seal the win for the Warhawks.
Duncan Morgan (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) picked up his third clean sheet of the season, making five saves in 90 minutes.Â
The Men's team will take the rest of the week off before returning to Fiskum Field to take on Fontbonne on Sunday, September 10. The men's game starts at 1 PM followed by the women's match at 3 PM against St. Scholastica.Â
