The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer kept Wartburg scoreless throughout the 90-minutes of the Warhawk/Knight Cup. The Warhawks weren't able to find the back of the net themselves though, resulting in a 0-0 draw. The visiting Knights retained possession of the Cup due to their win in 2022.
The first half looked even from both squads, the Warhawks recorded one shots on goal, while not allowing a single shot on goal from the Knights. UW-Whitewater scored a goal on an indirect kick, but it was called back due to a foul call on the refs.
UW-Whitewater came out of the break with an eye on grabbing the game winning goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. Wartburg added two shots on goal, both coming within the first 15 minutes of the half.
The Warhawks held off the late Knight push after a red card left UW-Whitewater with 10 on the field. Both teams would end the 90 minutes with 2 shots on goal, but UW-Whitewater had the edge in corners, 8-5.
Duncan Morgan (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) picked up the shut-out, making two saves throughout the game.
The Warhawks will head up to Minnesota for their next game. They will take on Saint John's on Saturday, September 30th at 4 PM.
