The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program sent athletes to a number of meets over the weekend. Warhawks competed at the Eagle Open hosted by UW-La Crosse, the Carius/Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College and the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite.
Three UWW distance runners competed at St. Francis.
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) headlined the group with a time of 3:46.84, a mark that was fourth at the meet and ranks 11th in Division III this outdoor season.
Brandon Gang (Waukesha, Wis./West) and
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) also competed in the 3,000 steeplechase at the meet recording times of 9:24.36 and 9:27.59 respectively.
The largest contingent of Warhawks competed at the Eagle Open.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) paced the UWW women with a top time in the 800. Her clocking of 2:13.06 is a top 30 time in the nation. Fassbender joined
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem),
Katie McNamara (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) and Sarah Nieheuser in the 4x400 for a time of 3:56.87 to finish third.
Abby Giese (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) also represented the Warhawks with a time of 1:04.78 in the 400.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led the UWW women in the field events. Her heave of 50.41 meters in the hammer throw was fifth at the meet. She also posted a distance of 33.74 meters in the discus while teammate
Rialey Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) joined her in the hammer with a toss of 36.23 meters.
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) competed in the pole vault at the meet posting a height of 3.43 meters.
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) led the Warhawk met at La Crosse. Thomas was tops in the 100 hurdles crossing the line in 14.75 while Cystrunk was clocked in 15.51 for sixth.
Rhett Reuter (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) added a fourth place finish in the 800 with a time of 1:54.39. In the 400,
Kobe Chandler's (Beloit, WI/Memorial) time of 49.08 was good for bronze and
Max Leibham (Hartland, WI/Lake Country Lutheran) also competed in the event recording a time of 51.51.
Chris Bitz (Brookfield, Wis./East) posted a fourth-place height of 4.71 meters in the pole vault. In the high jump,
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) posted a leap of 1.95 meters for sixth while Ty Janke put up a jump of 1.80 meters.
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert), 40.11 meters in the discus, and
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South), 49.05 meters in the hammer, rounded out the Warhawks competing in field events at the meet.
UW-Whitewater sent relay squads to the North Central invite. For the men, Cystrunk led off the group that also included
Cam Hughes (St. Charles, IL/North),
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial). The foursome was clocked inn 41.72 to finish as the runner up. The Warhawk women finished third with a time of 48.08. That group included Bilodeau,
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker),
Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and
Daja Pryor (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther).
Garrett also competed in the triple jump registering a leap of 13.48 meters for fifth in the event.
