The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team finished third in a field of 14 teams while the Warhawk women were sixth of 13 at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) broke the program record in the 5,000 by nearly 20 seconds to win the event Friday and register the second-fastest time in Division III this season. Teammate
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) added a fourth-place finish in the event. Shelvin Garrett registered a leap of 14.76 meters (48-5.25) to win the triple jump Friday. His mark is ranked third in the nation this season. Teammate
Brayden Zettle (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) finished as the runner-up with a distance of 14.58 meters (47-10), also a top ten mark in Division III.
UW-Whitewater's combination of
Cam Hughes (St. Charles, IL/North),
Adam Kunny (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier),
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and Garrett teamed up for a clocking of 41.62 in the 4x100 relay. That time was third Friday and ranks among the top 20 in the nation.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) posted the top time in the 400 at the meet crossing the line in 48.76 while
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) was tops in the 5,000 open.
Chris Bitz (Brookfield, Wis./East) added another gold for UWW with the best pole vault mark at the meet, 4.58 meters (15-0.25).
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) posted the second-best high jump mark at the meet with a leap of 1.98 meters (6-6).

Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) in the 800 (5th, 1:53.69) and
Jonah Block (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) in the 5,000 open (6th, 16:01.45).
For the Warhawk women,
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) was the first to cross the finish line in the 800 with a clocking of 2:15.26, a top 15 time in the nation.
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) posted a time of 24.74 in the 200. That mark was fourth at the meet and ranks ninth in Division III.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) won the pole vault once again with a height of 3.81 meters (12-6). She currently ranks second in Division III with a height of 3.90 meters set earlier this season.
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem),
Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and
Daja Pryor (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) joined Shelton for the 4x100 to claim bronze with a time of 48.54. UWW's combination of Fassbender,
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago),
Roxanne Temple (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) and
Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest) recorded a time of 4:06.84 for fifth in the 4x400 relay.
